Worship Service Planning and Archiving System

Introduction

Would you find it useful to have a database of everything that goes on during your services? Would it be helpful to be able to run a statistical analysis to discover which songs are the most / least popular among your worship leaders? Would choosing songs be so much easier if you could easily select them based on musical style and lyrical content? If so, read on.

Features

Central storage of all Service plans - any authorised user can view any past Service plan.
Song list which can be added to and updated as your congregation learns new songs.
Easy categorisation of songs using musical style and lyrical content makes selecting songs easy as you plan your Services.
Statistical analysis of song popularity based on recorded Service plans.
Produces printable Service plans for you to print and/or email to your team.
Automatic Song book and Song number selection. You choose the name of the song you wish to add and the finished service plan will automatically contain the book and number.
Free Software. You may use, copy, modify and share this software under the terms of the GNU General Public License Version 2 or later.
Since version 0.3 it includes Worship Team and Rota management and Service plan emailing to the Team.
Future versions will include more rotas (manage the coffe rota, flowers rota, etc), more statistical analysis and user preferences.

Requirements

This is a web based system, since it incorporates central storage with the ability for Worship Leaders to plan their services in the comfort of their own homes. For this reason you need your own web server with the following software installed and configured in order to host the application.

Unix or Unix like operating system. This system has been tested on GNU/Linux. If you wish to run it on another system then you will probably have to hack it yourself.
Web Server - Apache is recommended.
Database - The system is written for MySQL but could be hacked for any SQL based database supported by the DBD Perl modules.
Perl interpreter with CGI, DBD::MySQL (or other database) and (for versions 0.3 and above) Mail::Sender modules.

The system's users require a web browser and a network (internet) connection to the web server.

Support and Hosting

We offer support services for those who wish help setting up the system on their own servers. We also plan to offer a hosting facility such that your Worship Leaders access your own database on Our servers. This service is not yet implemented but if you would be interested in having us host your own system on our servers for £30 a month then please let us know, and we'll see about setting it up.

Epson Printer Utility Webmin Module

Introduction

Sharing a printer on your network using GNU/Linux and Samba is an efficient way to allow all users to print without each client needing their own printer. If your printer is an Epson Inkjet printer then you may have noticed that the Windows drivers that came with it provide feedback from the printer regarding ink levels. This functionality has not been easily available with a networked setup, until now. The Epson Printer Utility Webmin Module enables users on any networked machine to access ink levels and also clean the heads, check the nozzles, and check printer identity using a friendly interface from within a web browser.

Requirements

GNU/Linux or other Unix-like OS based printer server.
Webmin - The excellent web based administration system should be installed on your printer server.
escputil - The Epson Printer Utility that is part of the gimp-print package.
A web browser on each client machine.

Installation

Once you have satisfied the above requirements simply download the module onto your printer server, select "install modules" from within webmin and choose your newly downloaded module package. The new module will then be available from within the "Hardware" section of webmin. If all this seems like a bit much, and you would like to have a networked printer server sharing a single printer with all your machines then Netouerkz Computer Services can help. Client IP Address reporting and logging tool

Introduction

Do you have clients, or family and friends whose computers you are forever troubleshooting? Would it be handy to be able to access them remotely rather than having to pay a visit each time? You could install remote access servers like VNC or SSH, but how do you get a non-technical user to give you their IP address if they are on a dynamic IP address connection?
This small suite of programs makes it easy for them to report their IP address to you to facilitate your remote administration of their systems.

Requirements

This software is web-based. It requires a cgi enabled web server with Perl interpreter and MySQL database. UK users can get this with certain internet access packages from Force9. If you sign up then tell them I sent you by entering "serviceplanner.force9.co.uk" when asked who referred you. Once you have the appropriate dependencies in place download and install as instructed in the tarball's README file.
